Parents are the most important role models children can have, which is why Shaw Community Ministry makes sure that parents are actively involved with their children. One volunteer hour per month is mandatory for every parent, but those who desire to volunteer more often are encouraged to do so.  In addition, monthly meetings with parents are held to discuss their children’s progress within the program. The SCM parent handbook, which can be viewed at www.shawministry.org/resources.html, explains exactly what parents should expect from the afterschool program.
