The Shaw Community Ministry After-School Program is designed to encourage and assist students to reach their full potential academically and to behave responsibly. Students can receive tutorial assistance and mentoring as part of the program’s goal to help them develop a strong foundation and appreciation for the learning process, academic achievement and success.

At the start of each school year, SCM supplies back packs and school supplies to some 100 youth. Recently, the After-School activities have expanded to include a fine arts component that exposes children and youth to various forms of dance.

Future plans include a musical arts academy that will allow children and youth to take music lessons. In addition, at least one day a week will be devoted to athletic and team-sports activities, such as basketball and football.
